Twitter is down

Twitter is having over capacity issues on Christmas day, it isn't that this wasn't expected but strange is the twitter team's dedication towards its service,
twitter status {b}log {however can't be called a status log because not everything, not every detail is recorded there} twitter should keep logs detailed entries be recorded  of what went wrong during troubled times {fail whales} or other bugs and service outages
Twitter had major outages during world cup but they didn't learn anything from that, they didn't add any extra bandwidth to compensate for the increased usage of API by 3rd party apps, and new accounts being registered, such high traffic occasions as today {Christmas}

Meaningful Growth

In the past 12 months, Twitter users sent an astonishing 25 billion Tweets and we added more than 100 million new registered accounts. In that time, our team has grown from 130 people to more than 350 today.

Where is the server growth or increase in bandwidth? 100 million is a great number, calculate the number of tweets they would send, via apps, web interface etc.
